Ingredients
- Crayon shavings: use shavings in colors you like, start with a small amount
- Leaves: choose flat, dry leaves with interesting shapes
- Parchment paper: two sheets, one to place under the arrangement and one to cover it
- Iron: set to low heat
- Scissors: for trimming around the cooled shapes
Instructions
- Gather the leaves and crayon shavings, preparing the shavings before heating the iron.
- Protect a flat, heat-safe work surface by placing a sheet of parchment paper down.
- Arrange the leaves on the parchment paper, ensuring enough space between them to trim around later.
- Sprinkle a light, even layer of crayon shavings over each leaf.
- Place a second sheet of parchment paper over the leaves and shavings.
- With the iron set to low heat, gently press it onto the top parchment paper without sliding.
- Lift the iron to check the wax through the paper and press again briefly as needed.
- Allow the piece to cool completely while keeping the parchment in place.
- Once cool, use scissors to cut around the edges of each leaf, leaving a narrow margin.
- Finally, hang the finished suncatchers in a sunny window to enjoy.
Notes
Handle the iron with care and ensure it is used under adult supervision. The suncatchers are delicate and should be treated as lightweight decorations.
