- Polyester fiberfill, about 1 ounce (28 g)
- A yarn needle with a rounded tip
- Small scissors

- A tape measure

- Rounds 6 through 9: Work 1 single crochet in every stitch around for 4 rounds. Each round has 30 stitches.
- Round 10: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, then work a decrease over the next 2 stitches. Repeat around. You have 24 stitches.
- Round 11: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then work a decrease over the next 2 stitches. Add a little polyester fiberfill here. You have 18 stitches.
- Round 12: Work 1 single crochet in the next stitch, then work a decrease over the next 2 stitches. Add more filling as needed. You have 12 stitches.
- Round 13: Work a decrease over the next 2 stitches around. Add the last small amount of filling. You have 6 stitches.
- Round 14: Work a decrease over the next 2 stitches around. Cut the white yarn, leaving an 8-inch tail. Weave through the remaining stitches to close.
- For the iris, use blue or green yarn to make small straight stitches in a circle on the front of the eyeball.
- Add black yarn in the center for the pupil using short stitches.
- Use red yarn for the veins, making thin, branching stitches from the outer edge toward the iris.
- Weave in all remaining ends and trim the tails.
Notes
If making this for children, ensure to embroider every detail instead of using buttons or plastic safety eyes.
