Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn, 240 yards total, or 2 skeins of about 170 yards per 100 g skein
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- 2 optional stitch markers
Instructions
- Make a slip knot and place it on your H-8 (5.0 mm) hook. Leave a tail of about 6 inches (15 cm), then make a foundation chain by chaining 9.
- Insert your hook into the second chain from the hook. Yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again, and pull through both loops on the hook to make one single crochet. Work 1 single crochet in each chain across. You will have 8 single crochets at the end of this row.
- Chain 1 to turn. Turn your work, then make 1 single crochet in each stitch across. You will still have 8 single crochets.
- Repeat this row until the strip measures about 8 inches (20 cm) long.
- When you reach the desired length, fasten off, leaving a 6-inch (15 cm) tail.
- Fold the strip so the first row meets the last row. Hold the two short ends together and insert the hook through the first stitch of both layers, then yarn over and pull through to make a slip stitch. Continue with 8 slip stitches across the ends.
- Make another foundation chain of 9 and work the first row of 8 single crochets. Pass it through the first completed loop before joining the two short ends with 8 slip stitches.
- Repeat until the garland measures about 60 inches (152 cm).
- After the final link is joined, weave in the ends with your yarn needle.
- Lay the finished garland flat and smooth each loop with your fingers.
Notes
The pattern uses U.S. crochet terms. Ensure to use a worsted weight yarn and adjust the hook size if necessary for your tension.
