  14. Using Color B, leave a long yarn tail before beginning.
  15. Chain 6.
  16. Slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.
  17. Chain 6. This chain begins the first petal.
  18. Work the following stitches into the ring: 1 sc in the second chain from the hook, 1 hdc in the next chain, 1 dc in the next chain, 1 hdc in the next chain, and 1 sc in the next chain.
  19. Slip stitch into the ring to complete the petal.
  20. Repeat Steps 17–19 seven more times, creating 8 petals in total.
  21. Fasten off, leaving another long tail for sewing.
  22. Arrange the flower so the petals are evenly spaced.
  23. Sew the six ¼-inch buttons around the center of the flower.
  24. Use the long yarn tail to sew the flower onto the front of the headband.
  25. Weave in all remaining ends.

Notes

Use a similar yarn carefully as changing yarn weight or hook size can alter the headband’s width, drape, and finished fit.
