Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium), acrylic, about 55 yards total from one 170-yard per 100 g skein, in pumpkin orange plus a small amount of green or brown for the stem
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in the ends

Instructions
- Begin with a magic ring, chain 1, and make 6 half double crochet stitches into the ring. Pull the yarn tail to close the center and join with a slip stitch in the first half double crochet.
- For Round 2, chain 1, work 2 half double crochet in each stitch around, and join with a slip stitch.
- For Round 3, chain 1, work 1 half double crochet in the first stitch, then 2 half double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat around and join with a slip stitch.
- For Round 4, chain 1 and repeat the sequence of 1 half double crochet in the next 2 stitches, then 2 half double crochet in the next stitch. Join with a slip stitch.
- For Round 5, chain 1 and work 1 half double crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch.
- For Round 6, chain 1, repeat 1 half double crochet in the next 3 stitches, then 2 half double crochet in the next stitch. Join with a slip stitch.
- For Round 7, chain 1 and work 1 half double crochet in every stitch around. Join with a slip stitch.
- For Round 8, chain 1, work 1 half double crochet in every stitch around. Join with a slip stitch.
