Ingredients
- Yarn: Worsted weight (weight 4, medium), approximately 300 yards (274 m), approximately 200 g / 7 oz (two skeins recommended)
- Hook size: I-9 (5.5 mm)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional, for keeping track of stitches)
- Tape measure
Instructions
- Start with a magic ring (also called magic circle). This creates a flexible and adjustable center for your snood.
- Ch 2 (this does not count as a stitch), then make 12 double crochet (dc) into the magic ring. Pull the ring tight, slip stitch (sl st) to the top of the first dc to join the round. Total: 12 dc.
- For Row 2, ch 2, then make 2 dc in the same stitch from the joining (this is an increase). In each subsequent stitch, make 2 dc. Join the round with a sl st. Total: 24 dc.
- For Row 3, ch 2. Make an increase (2 dc) in the first stitch, then make 1 dc in the next stitch. Repeat around. Join with a sl st. Total: 36 dc.
- For Row 4, ch 2, then make 2 dc in the first stitch, and 1 dc in the next 2 stitches. Repeat. Join with a sl st. Total: 48 dc.
- Continue increasing until Row 6, where you will have 72 dc. For Row 7, ch 2 and work 1 dc in each stitch around for 18 rounds.
- Finish with a sl st in the last stitch, fasten off the yarn, and weave in all ends.
Notes
Consider blocking your snood to ensure the edges lay flat and it holds its shape nicely. This project is a great gift for pet lovers.
