Ingredients
- Clear dish soap: 1 small bottle
- Glitter: various colors, as desired
- Ordinary clear ornaments: as many as you wish to decorate
- Funnel: 1 (optional)
- Small tray or sheet of paper: 1 (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your work area. Cover the table with paper or a washable mat. Set out the clear ornaments, clear dish soap, glitter, and any optional tools you plan to use. Keep the ornament opening facing away from your face as you work.
- Open the ornament carefully. Remove its cap or hanging top if the design allows. Set the cap somewhere clean and safe so it does not roll away. If your ornament is glass, hold it gently and work over a padded surface to reduce the chance of breakage.
- Add clear dish soap. Pour a small amount of soap into the ornament. You can rotate the ornament and add more only if needed to help coat the inside.
- Coat the interior. Slowly swirl and tilt the ornament so the soap moves around the inner surface. Rotate it in several directions.
- Add glitter. Pour glitter into the ornament through the opening. Add it gradually so you can judge the amount as you go.
- Swirl to create the galaxy effect. Gently turn and roll the ornament so the glitter moves through the soap and across the inside. For a scattered, starry look, use light, controlled movements.
- Adjust the appearance. If the glitter looks too sparse, add a little more and swirl again. If you already like the pattern, stop moving the ornament.
- Replace the top and hang the ornament. Once you’re happy with the inside, return the cap or hanging piece to the ornament.
Notes
Avoid breathing in loose glitter, and keep it away from eyes, pets, and food. Clean up spills carefully and handle the ornaments gently.
