This crocheted autumn maple leaf bowl begins as a simple circle, then rises gently into a shallow, useful shape for keys, wrapped candies, pinecones, or a few loose threads beside your chair. The finished piece has the warm feeling of a fall centerpiece without asking you to hurry.

  13. Finish the rim by chaining 1, then working 1 single crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet, fasten off, and leave a 6-inch tail.
  14. Weave in the ends with a yarn needle and shape the bowl.

Notes

You can substitute any similar worsted weight, weight 4 medium yarn with close yardage. Cotton gives the bowl the firmest shape, while acrylic feels softer and may need more careful shaping.
