Ingredients
- Baking soda: 1 cup
- Water: 1/2 cup
- Food coloring: A few drops, adjusted to suit the color you want
- Mixing bowl: 1
- Cookie cutters: Various shapes
- Parchment paper: To keep ornaments from sticking
- String or a hook for hanging: Add after drying
Instructions
- Mix the baking soda, water, and color. Add 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of water to a mixing bowl. Add a few drops of food coloring, then stir until the mixture is well combined.
- Prepare the shaping surface. Lay a sheet of parchment paper on a flat surface.
- Shape the ornaments. Set a cookie cutter on the parchment paper, place some of the mixture inside it, and press it into the shape. Repeat with other cutters, leaving space between each ornament.
- Let the ornaments dry completely. Leave the shaped ornaments on the parchment paper for 24–48 hours. Check that each piece is fully dry before handling.
- Add the hanger. Once the ornaments are dry, use a string or hook to hang them.
- Display or gift your ornaments. Hang the finished ornaments as holiday décor or package them as handmade gifts.
Notes
Keep the ornaments away from young children and pets while drying. Handle dried pieces carefully as they are fragile.
