Create delicate floral shapes using cornstarch and water, dried in molds to form decorative pieces perfect for display.

Ingredients

  • Cornstarch
  • Water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Stirring tool
  • Flower-shaped molds
  • Baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Mix the paste. Add cornstarch and water to a mixing bowl. Stir until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined. Break up lumps as you work so the paste can settle neatly into the details of the flower molds.
  2. Fill the molds. Carefully pour the mixture into the flower-shaped molds. Work slowly and avoid filling past the edges. A steady pour helps prevent spills and makes it easier to keep the petals defined.
  3. Prepare the oven. Preheat the oven to a low temperature. The original instructions do not provide a specific temperature, so use a low setting appropriate for your oven and the molds. Confirm that the molds are oven-safe before baking.
  4. Set the molds on the baking sheet. Place the filled molds on the baking sheet. If they are not already on it, move them carefully so the mixture does not slosh or spill. The baking sheet provides a stable surface for placing the molds in and removing them from the oven.
  5. Bake until firm and dry. Put the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake until the shapes feel firm and appear dry. Check them periodically rather than relying on an unprovided exact time. If they still seem soft or damp, they need more drying.
  6. Cool before unmolding. Remove the baking sheet carefully and allow the molds and shapes to cool completely. Warm shapes may be delicate, so resist the urge to remove them early.
  7. Remove and display. Once cooled, gently release each shape from its mold. If a piece feels stuck, avoid forcing it, as that may break the petals. Arrange the finished flowers for display as desired.

Notes

These shapes should be treated as decorative objects rather than durable toys or household tools. Handle them gently as they are not waterproof and can be fragile.
