Galaxy Jar

No reviews

A simple, no-crochet-needed DIY that turns an ordinary mason jar into a colorful home décor accent, creating a miniature nebula effect with paint, glitter, and optional LED lighting.

Ingredients

  • Mason jars with lids
  • Paint in various colors
  • Glitter
  • Water
  • Cotton balls or similar material for texture (optional)
  • Small LED lights (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean and dry the jars. Wash each mason jar and let it dry completely before adding anything.
  2. Fill each jar with water, leaving enough room at the top for the other materials and for gentle mixing.
  3. Put a few drops of different-colored paint into the water. Stir gently so the colors form a swirling galaxy effect.
  4. Add glitter for sparkle. A small amount is often enough to catch the light without hiding the colors.
  5. Place cotton balls or similar material into the jar to create a soft, cloudy look. Avoid packing them tightly.
  6. If desired, place a small LED light at the bottom of the jar to illuminate the galaxy.
  7. Screw the lid on securely. Shake the jar gently to mix the contents, then display it upright.

Notes

Keep the lid securely fastened and handle the jar carefully, especially if it contains water and an LED light. Test your color combination in one jar before making a matching set.
