Ingredients
- Orange crepe paper: for the marigold flowers
- Soft orange crepe paper: a second shade to alternate with the orange
- Eight-petal flower template, 12 cm in diameter: with rounded petals and a central circle about 2 cm in diameter
- Pencil: for tracing the flower outline onto the paper
- Scissors: to cut the crepe paper
- Silicone glue: for joining the flower layers
- Warm LED micro-light strand: for illumination
Instructions
- Prepare the crepe paper by cutting or arranging the orange and soft orange crepe paper into manageable squares.
- Trace the flower shape by placing the eight-petal template on the paper and tracing around its outer edge with a pencil.
- Cut out many flowers in both shades of orange, aiming for a consistent 12 cm diameter and eight rounded petals.
- Sort the colors into two small piles, one for each shade.
- Begin layering the flowers by stacking them while alternating the two oranges and adding small dots of silicone glue near the bases of the petals.
- Stagger the glue points by avoiding placing each new set of glue dots directly over the dots in the layer below.
- Build the garland gradually by continuing to add flowers until you have enough layers to form the desired length and fullness.
- Open and fluff the petals once the layers are joined, carefully extending the paper structure.
- Add the LED micro lights by feeding the warm LED strand through the open center of the garland and distributing the lights along the inside.
- Arrange the decoration by placing the garland around a doorway frame or above an altar.
Notes
Crepe paper is delicate and best suited for indoor use. Keep it away from open flames.
