Create a charming and soothing pearl bead ghost decoration using simple crochet techniques and materials. This project combines the calming rhythm of crocheting with the elegance of pearl beads, making it a perfect seasonal accent for your home.

  • Total Time: 240 minutes

Ingredients

  • 250 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn, weight 4 medium
  • H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • 20 small pearl beads, about 6 mm each
  • Yarn needle with an eye large enough for your yarn
  • Small scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Two stitch markers, optional

Instructions

  1. Chain 25 to make the foundation chain.
  2. Row 1: Make 1 hdc in the third chain from the hook and in each chain across. You will have 23 hdc at the end of Row 1.
  3. Row 2: Chain 2 for the turning chain, then make 1 hdc in each stitch across. You will still have 23 hdc.
  4. Rows 3 through 14: Repeat Row 2 twelve more times, counting 23 hdc at the end of each row.
  5. Row 15: Chain 2, turn, make 2 hdc in the first stitch, then 1 hdc in the next 21 stitches, 2 hdc in the last stitch. You will have 25 hdc.
  6. Row 16: Chain 2, turn, make 1 hdc in each stitch across. You will have 25 hdc.
  7. Row 17: Chain 2, turn, make 2 hdc in the first stitch, 1 hdc in each stitch across, 2 hdc in the last stitch. You will have 27 hdc.
  8. Rows 18 through 21: Chain 2, turn at the start of each row, and make 1 hdc in every stitch across, counting 27 hdc at the end of each row.
  9. Fasten off and leave an 8-inch yarn tail. Weave in the ends.
  10. Add a border: Join yarn at the top corner with a slip stitch, chain 1, then make 1 single crochet evenly around all four sides, placing 2 sc in each corner. Join with a sl st to the first sc, fasten off, and weave in the ends.
  11. For the beads: Place them on the front of the ghost in a loose vertical arrangement, leaving about 1 inch between them. Sew each bead securely.
  12. Make the face with two pearl beads for eyes and one bead for the mouth.

Notes

Keep any hanging cord short and secure for child safety. The finished ghost works best as a seasonal accent, and it can be a thoughtful gift.
