Create a soothing and stylish crochet ghost decoration using worsted weight cotton yarn and pearl beads. This project is perfect for adding a gentle seasonal touch to your home.

  • Total Time: 240 minutes

Ingredients

  • 250 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn, weight 4 medium, ivory, cream, or pale gray shade
  • H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • 20 small pearl beads, about 6 mm each
  • Yarn needle with an eye large enough for your yarn
  • Small scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Two stitch markers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chain 25 to make the foundation chain.
  2. Row 1: Make 1 hdc in the third chain from the hook and in each chain across (23 hdc).
  3. Row 2: Chain 2, turn, and make 1 hdc in each stitch across (23 hdc).
  4. Rows 3 through 14: Repeat Row 2 twelve more times (approximately 6 inches wide by 5.5 inches tall).
  5. Row 15: Chain 2, turn, and make 2 hdc in the first stitch, 1 hdc in each of the next 21 stitches, then 2 hdc in the last stitch (25 hdc).
  6. Row 16: Chain 2, turn, and make 1 hdc in each stitch across (25 hdc).
  7. Row 17: Chain 2, turn, make 2 hdc in the first stitch, 1 hdc in each stitch across, and 2 hdc in the last stitch (27 hdc).
  8. Rows 18 through 21: Chain 2 and turn at the start of each row, then make 1 hdc in each stitch across (27 hdc).
  9. Fasten off and leave a yarn tail about 8 inches long. Weave in the ends on the wrong side.
  10. Add the border: Join yarn at the top corner with a slip stitch. Chain 1, then make 1 single crochet around all four sides, placing 2 sc in each corner.
  11. When reaching the starting point, join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Fasten off and weave in the border ends.
  12. Place the pearl beads on the front of the ghost, sewing each bead securely with matching thread.
  13. Make the face using two pearl beads for the eyes and one bead for the mouth, or embroider the features with black yarn.
