Create a beautiful pressed flower butterfly suncatcher to bring a touch of nature indoors.

Ingredients

  • Fresh, vibrant flowers (such as pansies, violets, or daisies)
  • Heavy books or a flower press (for pressing flowers)
  • Transparency sheets or wax paper
  • Scissors
  • A butterfly template or stencil
  • Clear adhesive or glue
  • A string or wire for hanging
  • Optional: colorful markers or paints for decoration

Instructions

  1. Select your flowers: Choose an array of flowers with shapes and colors that inspire you.
  2. Prepare to press: Lay a sheet of paper or a thin cloth inside your heavy book.
  3. Arrange the flowers: Place the flowers flat on the paper.
  4. Press the flowers: Close the book carefully and place additional weight on top.
  5. Cut out butterfly shapes: Trace your butterfly template onto transparency sheets or wax paper.
  6. Design your butterfly: Arrange your dried flowers inside the butterfly shape.
  7. Seal the design: Cover your flower arrangement with another sheet of transparency or wax paper.
  8. Create a hanging loop: Use string or wire to make a loop at the top.
  9. Find a spot to hang: Choose a location where sunlight can filter through your creation.

Notes

Direct sunlight can fade colors over time; position your suncatcher in a spot with softer light to preserve its beauty.
