These pressed flower candle holders bring a little piece of the garden indoors. Arrange delicate, flattened blooms on a glass jar, seal them in place, then add a tealight for a soft, decorative glow.

Ingredients

  • Decorative glass jar: Clean jar with stable base and enough room for a tealight.
  • Pressed flowers: Fully flattened and dry blooms.
  • Glue or Mod Podge: Used to attach and seal the flowers.
  • Scissors: For trimming flowers or stems.
  • Tealight candles: Added after the adhesive has dried completely.

Instructions

  1. Gather your supplies. Set out the decorative glass jar, pressed flowers, glue or Mod Podge, scissors, and tealight. Make sure the jar is clean and dry before you begin.
  2. Trim the flowers. Use scissors to cut the flowers to the size you want. Take care when handling them, since pressed blooms can be delicate. If a flower is too large for the spot you have in mind, trim it gradually rather than cutting off too much at once.
  3. Apply the first adhesive layer. Spread a layer of glue or Mod Podge over the part of the jar where you plan to place the flowers. Working on a small area at a time can make it easier to position the blooms before the adhesive dries.
  4. Arrange and attach the flowers. Place each pressed flower onto the glued area. Press gently so it makes contact with the jar, taking care not to crush the petals. Adjust the arrangement as you go; once the adhesive begins to set, the flowers may be harder to reposition.
  5. Seal the arrangement. After all the flowers are in place, apply another layer of glue or Mod Podge over them. Use a light, even layer to cover the blooms and help hold them in position. Avoid pushing or brushing forcefully across delicate petals.
  6. Let the jar dry completely. Set it aside in a safe place and leave it undisturbed until the adhesive is fully dry. Follow the drying directions on the product label. Do not add a candle while the coating is still wet or tacky.
  7. Add the tealight. Once the jar is completely dry, insert a tealight. Your pressed flower votive is ready to display.

Notes

Plan for enough time to complete the decorating and sealing steps without rushing, as drying time depends on the adhesive product.
