Ingredients
- Mason jar (any size will work)
- Fresh flowers and leaves (look for vibrant colors and interesting shapes)
- Heavy books or a flower press (to press and preserve your blooms)
- Clear parchment paper or wax paper (for adhering flowers)
- Craft glue or a glue stick (easy to work with and safe)
- Ribbon or twine (to hang your suncatcher)
- Scissors (for cutting flowers and ribbon)
Instructions
- Select fresh flowers and leaves. Look for pieces that inspire you, focusing on their color and shape.
- Once you’ve gathered your flowers, place them between two sheets of parchment paper or wax paper. This creates a protective layer as you press them flat.
- Choose a flat surface and stack heavy books on top of the flowers. Allow them to press for at least a week. You’ll feel the anticipation as you imagine how they will look.
- After the flowers are fully pressed, gently peel them from the parchment paper. Notice the delicate feel of the dried petals.
- Prepare your Mason jar by cleaning and ensuring it is dry. The glass surface will beautifully catch the light.
- Begin arranging the pressed flowers inside the jar. Use a glue stick or craft glue to secure them in place, feeling the soft texture of the blooms against the glass.
- Once you arrange the flowers to your liking, allow the glue to dry completely. Find a calm spot to let everything settle.
- When the glue is dry, cut a length of ribbon or twine to your desired length. Attach it to the top of the jar, creating a loop for hanging.
- Finally, find a sunny window or a space where light can shine through the jar, illuminating the pressed flowers.
