Ingredients
- Clear plastic sheets
- Colorful cellophane or tissue paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil
- Leaves for templates, real or paper
- String for hanging
Instructions
- Trace a leaf. Place a real or paper leaf on a clear plastic sheet. Use a pencil to trace around its outline.
- Cut out the shape. Carefully cut along the traced line to make a plastic leaf.
- Prepare the colors. Cut the cellophane or tissue paper into small pieces or shapes.
- Decorate the leaf. Apply glue to one side of the plastic leaf and place the colorful pieces on top. Arrange them as you like, covering the surface with a mix of colors or a simple pattern.
- Let it dry. Leave the leaf undisturbed until the glue is completely dry.
- Add the hanging string. Attach a piece of string to the top of the leaf. Make sure it is secure before hanging.
- Display it. Hang the suncatcher in a window where sunlight can shine through the colored paper.
Notes
Choose plastic that is easy to cut but sturdy enough to hold its shape. If children are helping, an adult should handle any cutting that requires sharp scissors.
