This cozy craft transforms simple natural materials and leftover wax into practical fire starters for winter gatherings and gifts.

Ingredients

  • Wax
  • Old candles or wax melts
  • Natural materials such as pine cones, dried citrus slices, and cinnamon sticks
  • Essential oils, optional
  • Paper cups or muffin cups for molds
  • Double boiler for melting the wax

Instructions

  1. Melt the wax by placing the old candles or wax melts in the top of a double boiler and heating gently until completely liquid.
  2. Once the wax is melted, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance, if desired.
  3. Arrange the paper or muffin cups on a stable, heat-resistant surface and place the natural materials inside each cup.
  4. Slowly pour the melted wax over the natural materials, ensuring they are fully covered.
  5. Leave the fire starters undisturbed until the wax has cooled and hardened completely.
  6. Once hardened, the scented fire starters are ready to use in a fireplace or fire pit.

Notes

Always use fire starters only in suitable and properly maintained fire pits or fireplaces. Keep finished fire starters away from heat until ready to use.
