Create smooth, palm-sized worry stones using a simple baking soda and cornstarch dough. These stones serve as tactile reminders to take a moment to pause and breathe, making them thoughtful, handmade gifts.

Ingredients

  • Baking soda (equal parts with cornstarch)
  • Cornstarch (equal parts with baking soda)
  • Water (to achieve dough-like consistency)
  • Food coloring (optional, a few drops)
  • Mixing bowl (1)
  • Spoon (1)
  • Wax paper (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients. Add equal parts baking soda and cornstarch to a mixing bowl. Stir them together with a spoon so they are evenly mixed.
  2. Add water slowly. Pour in a little water at a time, stirring as you go. Stop when the mixture reaches a dough-like consistency that can be shaped.
  3. Add color, if you like. Put a few drops of food coloring into the dough and mix well. The color is optional, so skip this step if you prefer a natural finish.
  4. Shape the stones. Take small portions of dough and form them into flat, stone-like shapes. Aim for a comfortable, palm-sized feel.
  5. Set them out to dry. Place the shaped stones on wax paper. Leave them for several hours or until they are completely hardened.
  6. Smooth the edges if desired. Once the stones are dry, you can sand the edges for a smoother finish.
  7. Use or gift them. When the stones are fully dry and finished to your liking, they are ready to use or give as small handmade gifts.

Notes

These stones are not washable and should be handled gently. Store them in a dry place.
