Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium), 100% acrylic, about 120 yards from one 170-yard per 100 g skein.
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
- Yarn needle for weaving in the ends.
- Small scissors.
- Two stitch markers, optional.
- Tape measure for checking the finished width and depth.
Instructions
- Make a foundation chain of 2 chains.
- Work 2 half double crochet stitches into the second chain from the hook.
- For Row 2, chain 1 to turn. Work 2 hdc in the first stitch, then 2 hdc in the second stitch.
- For Row 3, chain 1 and turn. Work 2 hdc in the first stitch, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 stitches, and 2 hdc in the last stitch.
- Continue the same increase pattern for each subsequent row, adding 2 stitches to the row count at the beginning and end.
- Keep adding 2 stitches on every row until you reach Row 14.
- For the right tie, chain 35 stitches from the last stitch of Row 14, then slip stitch back into each chain across to the bandana edge.
- For the left tie, turn the bandana and join yarn with a slip stitch, then chain 35 and slip stitch back to the bandana edge.
- Fasten off the yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail for weaving in.
- Use a yarn needle to weave in every end.
- Lay the bandana flat, measure it, and shape it if necessary.
Notes
Block acrylic fabric gently with cold water or steam. Store folded and not hanging. Keep an eye on the bandana's fit and condition.
