Ingredients
- Contact paper
- Colored tissue paper
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Leaf template
- Window
Instructions
- Choose a leaf template. Select a leaf shape that is large enough to decorate comfortably. Place the template over the contact paper and trace around it with a pencil.
- Cut out the leaf. Carefully cut along the traced outline to create the contact paper leaf.
- Prepare the tissue paper. Cut or tear the colored tissue paper into small pieces. Varying the shapes and sizes will give the finished suncatcher a mosaic-style appearance.
- Decorate the sticky side. Place the tissue paper pieces onto the sticky side of the contact paper leaf. Overlap pieces slightly if you want fewer gaps, or leave small spaces for a lighter stained-glass effect.
- Attach the suncatcher to the window. Once the leaf is fully decorated, peel away the protective backing from the contact paper. Press the sticky side gently onto a clean window where it can receive sunlight.
Notes
For younger children, an adult should handle the scissors and help with the contact paper backing. Smooth the leaf from the center outward as you attach it to reduce wrinkles and air bubbles without disturbing the tissue paper.
