This fall leaves suncatcher craft is a simple, colorful way to bring autumn light indoors. Children can create glowing leaf decorations with tissue paper and contact paper, making it perfect for classrooms, rainy afternoons, or seasonal window décor.

Ingredients

  • Cardstock
  • Tissue paper in autumn colors
  • Clear contact paper
  • Leaf templates
  • Scissors
  • Printer
  • Tape or removable adhesive (optional)

Instructions

  1. Download and print the leaf templates.
  2. Cut the leaf shapes from cardstock.
  3. Prepare the tissue paper by tearing or cutting it into small pieces.
  4. Cut a piece of contact paper large enough to hold the leaf and place it sticky side up on your work surface.
  5. Set the cardstock leaf shape over the sticky contact paper as a guide and arrange the tissue paper pieces inside the leaf shape.
  6. When the leaf is filled, place a second piece of contact paper over the tissue paper and press gently from the center outward to seal the layers.
  7. Cut around the leaf shape to remove the excess contact paper.
  8. Place the finished leaf in a window where sunlight can shine through.

Notes

Because the materials are paper-based, display the leaves indoors and away from rain or high humidity. Cleaning should be done gently with a dry, soft cloth.
