Instructions
- Start with black worsted weight yarn and make a magic ring with 6 single crochet stitches.

- Work 2 single crochet stitches in each stitch around for Round 2 (12 stitches).
- Work 1 single crochet in the next stitch, then increase in the following stitch for Round 3 (18 stitches).
- Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then increase in the next stitch for Round 4 (24 stitches).
- Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for Rounds 5 through 12 (24 stitches each round).
- Insert safety eyes between Rounds 8 and 9, about 6 stitches apart.
- Begin decreasing for the lower body: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then decrease for Round 13 (18 stitches).
- Lightly stuff the body, then continue with 1 single crochet in the next stitch and decrease in the next stitch for Round 14 (12 stitches).
- Add more stuffing, then make 6 decreases around the opening for Round 15 (6 stitches).
- Cut the yarn, leaving a 10-inch tail. Weave through the front loops of the remaining stitches and pull closed.
- For ears, chain 7, single crochet in the second chain from the hook, chain 1 to turn, then decrease at the beginning and end of the next row for 4 stitches.
- Continue decreasing for 2 stitches, then decrease across the final 2 stitches, fasten off with a tail.
- For wings, chain 8, single crochet in the second chain from the hook, chain 1 to turn, then decrease at the final 2 stitches to have 6 stitches.
- Chain 1 to turn, work one single crochet across, and decrease until 2 stitches remain, then fasten off.
- Sew ears and wings to the body, ensuring they are securely attached.
- Weave in ends and ensure the face is positioned properly.
Notes
For children, embroider the eyes and mouth instead of using safety eyes, and ensure there are no small detachable parts.
