  • Total Time: 65 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup clear school glue, washable and nontoxic
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup liquid starch
  • 1/2 cup Froot Loops cereal, divided into small color groups if desired
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon food coloring, assorted colors or one color
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil, optional for a softer feel
  • 1 medium mixing bowl, about 2-quart capacity
  • 1 small bowl, about 1-cup capacity, for dividing cereal
  • 1 sturdy spoon or silicone spatula
  • 1 measuring cup, 1-cup size
  • 1 tablespoon measuring spoon
  • 1 teaspoon measuring spoon
  • 1 pair disposable gloves, optional for kneading
  • 1 piece wax paper, about 18 inches long, for the work surface
  • 1 airtight plastic container, about 2-cup capacity
  • 1 clean kitchen towel, for wiping the table and hands

Instructions

  1. Cover the table with wax paper before measuring anything.
  2. Set the bowl, spoon, measuring tools, towel, and container within reach.
  3. Pour 1 cup of clear school glue into the large mixing bowl.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of warm water and stir slowly for about 30 seconds, scraping the bottom as you go.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and stir until you no longer see dry pockets.
  6. Mix in 1 teaspoon of food coloring.
  7. Pour in 1/2 cup of liquid starch a little at a time, stirring after each addition.
  8. When the mixture starts to pull together, coat your gloved hands with a drop of optional vegetable oil and lift out the slime.
  9. Knead the slime over the wax paper for 3 to 5 minutes.
  10. Check the texture and adjust by adding liquid starch or water as needed.
  11. Fold in the 1/2 cup of Froot Loops in two or three additions.
  12. Place the finished slime in the airtight container and let it rest for 30 minutes.
