Dish soap slime is a simple, hands-on sensory activity made with just three ingredients: dish soap, cornstarch, and food coloring. It provides an enjoyable experience for both kids and adults, allowing for creativity and sensory play.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dish soap
  • 2 cups cornstarch
  • A few drops of food coloring
  • A mixing bowl
  • A spoon for stirring
  • A clean work surface for kneading

Instructions

  1. Combine the dish soap and cornstarch. Pour 1 cup of dish soap into a bowl. Add 2 cups of cornstarch and stir until the ingredients are well combined. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl as you mix so dry patches do not get left behind.
  2. Add the color. Put a few drops of food coloring into the mixture. Stir thoroughly until the color looks evenly distributed. Start with a small amount; adding too much coloring at once can make it harder to judge the shade and may stain hands or surfaces.
  3. Knead the mixture. When stirring becomes difficult, use your hands to knead the mixture until it reaches a slime-like consistency. Work patiently and press together any parts that are still separate. If children are helping, an adult should supervise this stage.
  4. Play and explore. Once the slime feels moldable, enjoy it as a supervised sensory activity. Try different colors or textures in separate batches, and clean hands and surfaces when play is finished.

Notes

The mixture is not intended to be eaten or used as a toy near the face. Keep the slime away from mouths and eyes, and wash hands after playing. Supervise children closely during the activity.
