Ingredients
- 1 clear glass jar with a lid
- 1 cup water, tap or filtered
- a few drops of liquid blue food coloring
- 1 tablespoon glycerin
- optional: fine glitter or sequins
- optional: smooth stones or small decorative gems
- 1 cup water for filling the jar
- 1 small mixing bowl or cup
- 1 funnel, optional
Instructions
- Pour the first cup of water into the jar until it is about halfway full. Let the water settle.
- Add a few drops of blue food coloring. Swirl gently and pause to watch the color spread. Add more coloring a drop at a time if you want a deeper shade.
- Slowly pour in the glycerin. This thickens the water slightly, helping the glitter drift more slowly.
- Sprinkle in fine glitter or sequins, if using. Add a small amount first; you can add more before filling the jar if you want a denser sparkle.
- Gently place the smooth stones or decorative gems into the jar, if using.
- Pour in the remaining water, leaving a little air space at the top. That space allows the contents to move when you turn the jar.
- Wipe the jar rim clean, then secure the lid tightly. For extra security, an adult can seal the lid with tape.
- Turn the jar gently and watch the glitter descend. Avoid shaking it vigorously, especially if it is made of glass.
Notes
Choose a jar with a lid that fits securely and avoid sharp or fragile decorations for safety. If the jar will be handled by children, have an adult supervise the filling and sealing.
