Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium), acrylic, about 600 total yards, or four 170-yard, 100 g skeins
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers, optional
- Tape measure
- Small notebook or row counter, optional
Instructions
- Make a foundation chain of 43 chains, keeping the chain relaxed.
- Row 1: Yarn over, insert the hook into the second chain from the hook, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Yarn over again and pull through all three loops on the hook to make one half double crochet. Work 1 hdc in each chain across, then chain 1 to turn.
- Row 2: Turn the work. Work 1 hdc in the back loop only (BLO) of each stitch across, then chain 1 to turn.
- Rows 3 through 38: Repeat Row 2 until you have completed Row 38, or until the fabric measures about 16 inches (41 cm) long. Each row has 42 stitches.
- Fasten off after the final row: cut the yarn, leaving a tail about 8 inches long, and pull that tail through the last loop.
- Use a yarn needle to weave in the ends on the wrong side.
- Gently stretch the piece into a rectangle and check the corners. For acrylic, block cold, using very distant steam without touching the yarn.
