No reviews

A fun and hands-on kitchen project to make your own chewy bubble gum with your choice of flavor and color.

Ingredients

  • Gum base
  • Powdered sugar
  • Corn syrup
  • Flavoring
  • Food coloring
  • Microwave-safe bowl or double boiler

Instructions

  1. Melt the gum base. Heat it in a microwave or double boiler, following the package directions. Handle the hot mixture carefully.
  2. Add the flavor and color. Stir the corn syrup, flavoring, and food coloring into the melted gum base.
  3. Mix in powdered sugar gradually. Add it a little at a time, mixing until the gum becomes pliable. Adding it gradually helps you judge the texture as you go.
  4. Knead until smooth. Work the mixture until it feels even and elastic. If it is still difficult to handle, continue kneading rather than adding a large amount of sugar at once.
  5. Shape and cut. Roll the gum into a log, then cut it into pieces.
  6. Cool before enjoying. Let the pieces cool, then enjoy.

Notes

Ensure food-grade ingredients and equipment are used. Keep a clean work surface ready for kneading and shaping.
