Ingredients
- RED HEART® Soft® yarn in various colors: Color A for the squares, Color B for the squares and top and bottom panels, Color C for the triangles and side-panel edging, Color D for piping and diamond accents
- 5 mm crochet hook
- 6.5 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Locking stitch markers
- Bean bag insert measuring 21” x 21” x 21”
- Scissors
Instructions
- Crochet six squares. Use Colors A and B with the larger, 6.5 mm hook. Follow the full pattern for the square stitch pattern and color placement. Make all six squares consistently so their edges will align during assembly.
- Make twelve triangles. Use Color C for all twelve triangles. Refer to the pattern for the exact shaping, stitch counts, and dimensions. Keep the pieces in order if their orientation or placement matters to the argyle layout.
- Plan and assemble the side panel. Arrange the squares and triangles into the intended design before seaming. Use locking stitch markers to hold neighboring edges in place, then join the pieces into a cylinder shape. Check that the motif placement looks balanced and that the cylinder is not twisted.
- Add edging to the side panel. Work the specified Color C edging around both the top and bottom edges of the cylinder. Follow the pattern’s directions for the edging round or rounds.
- Crochet the top and bottom panels. Use Color B and follow the specified rounds in the full pattern. Work both panels to the dimensions and shape given there.
- Join the panels and fit the bean bag. Attach the top and bottom panels to the edged cylinder as directed in the pattern. Complete the bean bag stuffing or fitting step as specified, checking that the cover sits evenly around the insert.
- Add the piping. Use Color D to finish around the edges with piping, following the original directions.
- Add the diamond accents. Use Color D to decorate the side and top panels with diamond accents. Check the placement before securing each accent, then fasten the yarn securely and weave in the ends on the inside where possible.
Notes
A snug, even fit is the goal; avoid stretching the crochet to force it over the insert.
