- Pour in 1/4 cup of room-temperature water.
- Stir slowly with a spoon until the mixture becomes damp and sandy.
- Continue stirring until it forms a thick paste.
- Add 1 tablespoon of light corn syrup, if desired, and mix it in thoroughly.
- Line a tray with wax paper or another non-stick surface.
- Place the heart-shaped cookie cutter or mold on the lined tray.
- Spoon the thick paste into the cutter, pressing the mixture down gently to fill the outline evenly.
- Smooth the top if needed.
- Carefully lift the cookie cutter straight up, leaving the heart-shaped mound on the tray.
- Place the tray in a warm spot where the heart will not be disturbed.
- Leave the heart to sit and dry, checking it over the next few days as crystals begin to form.
Notes
The final appearance may vary depending on the warmth, humidity, and drying conditions. Avoid moving the tray during the early drying stage, and keep the finished piece away from moisture to prevent it from softening or dissolving.
