Create vibrant coffee filter flowers using acrylic paints in just five minutes. This simple DIY project encourages mindfulness and creativity.

Ingredients

  • Coffee filters (flat and round)
  • Acrylic paints in your favorite colors
  • A small bowl of water for rinsing brushes
  • Paintbrushes in varying sizes
  • Scissors for cutting petals
  • A paper towel or cloth for drying brushes
  • Optional: Pipe cleaners or floral wire for stems
  • Optional: Washable markers for added detail

Instructions

  1. Begin by laying your coffee filters flat on a clean surface.
  2. Pour a small amount of acrylic paint onto your palette.
  3. Dip your paintbrush into the paint and touch it to the edge of a filter.
  4. Continue painting sections of the filter, allowing colors to overlap.
  5. Once fully painted, dip the filter into a bowl of water.
  6. After removing the filter from the water, lay it flat on a paper towel to dry.
  7. While waiting for the filters to dry, prepare additional flowers or cut the first one into petal shapes.
  8. Once dry, stack two or three filters together and cinch the middle.
  9. If you’d like a stem, slide a pipe cleaner or floral wire through the center.
  10. Arrange your new creations in a small vase.

Notes

Store completed flowers in a cool, dry place to keep them looking fresh. Avoid stacking to prevent crushing.
