Ingredients
- Eggshells
- Epsom salt
- Hot water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Spoon
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Clean and hollow the eggshells by rinsing them to remove any remaining egg and drying them thoroughly.
- Add Epsom salt to hot water and stir with a spoon until the salt dissolves, continuing to add salt until the water is saturated.
- Stir food coloring into the saturated solution if desired.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and carefully place the dry eggshells on the sheet. Pour the solution into each shell slowly to prevent spills and cracking.
- Leave the eggshells undisturbed for several hours for the crystals to develop.
Notes
Use clean, intact eggshells and handle them gently because both the shell and crystals can break or flake. Avoid soaking or cleaning them with water after the crystals have formed.
