Ingredients
- Soy wax or beeswax
- Coffee grounds
- Wick
- Container (glass jar or tin)
- Double boiler
- Thermometer
- Essential oils (optional)
- Stirring utensil
Instructions
- Measure enough soy wax or beeswax for your chosen container and place the wax in the top section of a double boiler.
- Heat the wax using the double boiler, stirring occasionally with a heat-safe utensil. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature and avoid overheating the wax.
- Once the wax has melted, remove it from direct heat and allow it to cool slightly. Stir in the coffee grounds. Add optional essential oils if you want a stronger or more layered scent.
- Place the wick in the center of the container and secure its base with a small amount of melted wax, keeping the wick upright while the wax begins to set.
- Slowly pour the wax mixture into the container, carefully pouring around the wick rather than directly over it, making sure to leave the wick centered.
- Place the container on a level, heat-resistant surface and allow the candle to cool completely. Avoid moving it while the wax is setting.
- Once the candle is fully solid, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch.
- Your homemade coffee-scented candle is ready to use or give as a handmade gift.
Notes
Avoid moving the candle while it cools. Make sure the container is completely dry before pouring in the wax. Test-burn the candle in a safe area and observe the flame for safety.
