Ingredients
- Dish soap
- Cornstarch
- Mixing bowl
- Spoon
- Washable tray or table covering (optional)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients. Add dish soap and cornstarch to a mixing bowl. Begin with small amounts and add more gradually as you mix.
- Mix until thickened. Stir the ingredients together until the mixture begins to take on a slime-like consistency. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl so the cornstarch and soap are combined evenly.
- Add color if you like. Mix in a small amount of food coloring for a colored batch. Add it gradually so you can stop when you reach a shade you like. Protect the play area as food coloring can stain.
- Knead until smooth. Once the mixture is thick enough to handle, knead it with your hands until it feels smoother and stretchy. Keep working it gently if it is still uneven.
- Enjoy supervised sensory play. Let your child explore the texture with clean hands while an adult remains close by. Remind children not to eat the slime or put it in their mouths.
Notes
This mixture is intended for sensory play rather than as a finished craft to keep permanently. Dispose of it responsibly after play and wash hands.
