A playful ocean-themed dessert that kids can help make by layering colorful jello and decorating with cheerful fish candies, perfect for parties or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Blue gelatin dessert mix
  • Water, measured according to the package
  • Clear, food-safe cups or small dessert glasses
  • A heat-safe bowl or measuring jug
  • A spoon or whisk for dissolving the mix
  • A tray or flat plate to carry the cups safely
  • Edible gummy fish, candy fish, or other suitable decorations
  • Optional: additional gelatin colors for layers
  • Optional: whipped topping or another dessert topping
  • Optional: small spoons for serving

Instructions

  1. Read the package directions. Check the gelatin mix for the required amounts of hot and cold water, preparation steps, and chilling time.
  2. Set up the cups. Arrange the clear cups on a tray or flat plate.
  3. Dissolve the gelatin. An adult should measure the hot water and pour it into a heat-safe bowl or jug. Add the gelatin mix and stir or whisk until it is fully dissolved.
  4. Add the remaining water. Add the amount of cold water specified on the package and mix well.
  5. Fill the cups. Carefully pour the liquid into each cup. Leave some room at the top if you plan to add whipped topping or several decorations later.
  6. Chill until set. Place the tray of cups on a level refrigerator shelf and chill for the time recommended on the package.
  7. Add decorations. When the gelatin has set, add edible fish candies or other chosen toppings.
  8. Make optional layers. For a layered cup, prepare another gelatin color and allow it to cool before pouring it over the first set layer.
  9. Serve chilled. Keep the cups refrigerated until it is time to serve.

Notes

Choose decorations that are appropriate for the ages of the children attending. Small candies can pose a choking risk for young children. Avoid non-edible decorations.
