Ingredients
- Pressed, fully dried flowers and leaves
- Cardstock, bookmark blank, frame backing, or another surface
- Craft adhesive
- Fine tweezers (optional)
- Small brush or applicator
- Scissors
- Protective covering or finish (if required)
- Paper, a heavy book, or a flower press (for pressing fresh flowers)
Instructions
- Choose the craft and base. Decide whether you’re making a card, bookmark, framed design, or another project. Confirm that the base is clean, dry, and the right size for your flowers.
- Check that the flowers are ready. Pressed flowers should feel dry and lie flat. If a bloom still feels damp or flexible in a moist way, give it more time to dry.
- Plan the arrangement before gluing. Lay out the flowers and leaves on the base. Try a few arrangements before choosing one.
- Handle blooms gently. Lift flowers by a sturdier part when possible. Use tweezers for tiny pieces.
- Apply adhesive sparingly. Use the applicator recommended for your adhesive.
- Attach the flowers one at a time. Place each bloom where you planned it, then press gently.
- Let the piece dry undisturbed. Keep it flat and away from dust and pets while the adhesive sets.
- Add project-specific protection or finishing if called for.
- Inspect and store or display your work. Make sure all adhesive and protective coatings have dried completely.
Notes
Store unused pressed flowers flat and dry. If substituting a different base or adhesive, expect the finished project’s appearance and durability to vary.
