Ingredients
- Blue gelatin mix, prepared according to its package directions
- Cold and hot water, in the amounts specified on the gelatin package
- Clear, food-safe cups or small dessert glasses
- Gummy sharks or other edible sea-creature candies
- Optional edible decorations, such as small fish-shaped candies or edible sprinkles
- A heat-safe measuring jug or bowl for mixing
- A spoon or whisk for dissolving the gelatin
- A tray or flat plate to carry the cups to the refrigerator
- A refrigerator with enough level space for the cups
Instructions
- Read the gelatin package. Check the required amount of hot and cold water, the number of servings, and any preparation notes. Confirm that the product suits the guests’ dietary needs.
- Prepare a level chilling area. Place a tray on a flat refrigerator shelf. Set the clean, clear cups on the tray before filling them.
- Dissolve the gelatin. An adult should add the gelatin mix to the hot water as directed on the package. Stir until the powder is fully dissolved.
- Add the remaining water. Pour in the cold water specified by the package and stir to combine.
- Portion the mixture. Carefully pour the prepared gelatin into the cups. Leave enough room near the top for decorations.
- Chill until set. Move the tray to the refrigerator and let the gelatin chill for the time recommended on its package.
- Check that the gelatin has set. Gently tilt one cup. The gelatin should hold its shape.
- Arrange the sea creatures. Add gummy sharks and any other edible decorations.
- Serve chilled. Keep the cups refrigerated until serving time.
- Clean up safely. Refrigerate leftovers promptly and follow the package guidance for storage.
Notes
Keep in mind that gelatin must chill for several hours, so plan ahead. Supervise children while decorating to ensure safety.
