Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium): approximately 300 yards (275 meters) total
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Optional: Stitch markers to keep track of rounds
- Polyester fiberfill for stuffing
Instructions
- Begin with a magic ring, chain 1, then work 6 sc into the ring. Pull the tail to tighten. Total stitches: 6.
- In the next round, work 2 sc in each st, resulting in 12 sc.
- Round 3: *(1 sc, 2 sc in next st)* around. Total of 18 sc.
- Round 4: *(2 sc, 2 sc in next st)* around. Total of 24 sc.
- Round 5: *(3 sc, 2 sc in next st)* around. Total of 30 sc.
- For Round 6, create 30 sc without increases.
- Round 7: create another 30 sc.
- For Round 8: *(4 sc, 2 sc in next st)*, repeat around for 36 sc.
- Rounds 9-12: Work each round as 36 sc.
- To decrease, work rounds of *(5 sc, 1 dec)* for a total of 30 sc, then *(4 sc, 1 dec)* for 24 sc, and finally *(3 sc, 1 dec)* for 18 sc.
- Begin to stuff lightly with polyester fiberfill.
- Round 15: Replace the decrease with *(2 sc, 1 dec)* for a total of 12 sc.
- Finalize by repeating the last round down to 6 sc. Weave in the end.
- Weave in any remaining ends and block slightly if necessary. Optionally, add safety eyes.
Notes
Creating a gauge swatch is recommended to ensure your finished ghosts maintain shape and size. Substituting yarn is possible as long as it is a medium-weight yarn.
