Instructions
- Start with a magic ring: Make a magic ring and ch 2 (this does not count as a stitch). Work 10 single crochet (sc) into the ring. Pull tight to close. (10 sc)
- Round 2: Ch 2, then do 2 hdc (half double crochet) in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the top of the first hdc. (20 hdc)
- Round 3: Ch 2, then work 1 hdc in the first stitch, then 2 hdc in the next. Repeat around, ending with a sl st. (30 hdc)
- Round 4: Ch 2, then work 1 hdc in the first two stitches, followed by 2 hdc in the next stitch. Repeat around and close with sl st. (40 hdc)
- Rounds 5–9: Ch 2 and work 1 hdc in each stitch around until you reach the end of Round 9. (40 hdc)
- Round 10: Ch 2, work 1 hdc in the first stitch, then 1 decrease (hdc2tog), then 1 hdc in the next two stitches, and continue this pattern around until the end. (30 hdc)
- Round 11: Ch 2, work 1 hdc in the first stitch, then a decrease, and continue this to the end. (20 hdc)
- Round 12: Ch 2, work a decrease around until you reach the end. (10 hdc)
- Finishing up: Begin stuffing your mummy with polyester fiberfill as you close off the top, adding more as needed. Pull tight to close.
- Next, design faces: Use a smaller hook or your yarn needle to embroider little eyes and mouths or attach buttons if you prefer.
- Weave in the ends: Tidy up by weaving in all loose ends for a neat finish.
- Optional step: If your mummy is cotton or wool, blocking can enhance the shape—simply steam block or lay flat to dry.
