  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles Optional for decoration.
  • pinch Salt To sprinkle on caramel for flavor enhancement.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash each apple under cool water, removing any wax. Pat them dry with a soft towel.
  • Push the wooden stick into the top of each apple for a sturdy hold, but do not press all the way through.

Melting Caramel

  • In a heavy saucepan, combine the caramel candies and heavy cream over low heat. Stir gently until smooth.

Coating

  • Hold each apple by the stick and dip it into the melted caramel. Let the excess drip off, and place the coated apples on parchment paper to set.

Chocolate Melting

  • In a separate bowl, melt the white chocolate carefully in the microwave or over a double boiler. If using blue chocolate, melt it in the same way.

Decorating

  • Once the caramel has set, drizzle melted white and blue chocolate over the apples using a fork or piping bag. Allow to cool slightly.
  • While the chocolate is still tacky, sprinkle red, white, and blue decorations over the apples.

Final Steps

  • Place the decorated apples in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes, allowing everything to harden completely.
  • Once set, they are ready to serve or display.

Notes

If storing leftovers, wrap each apple loosely in wax paper or plastic wrap to preserve crispness without trapping moisture. Enjoy within a week for best quality. Consider chopping any leftovers to create an ice cream sundae or mix into a fruit salad.
