4th of July Suncatchers

Ingredients
  

Craft Materials

  • 2 pieces Wax paper Cut into desired shapes
  • assorted sheets Colored tissue paper (red, white, blue) Tear or cut into small pieces
  • 1 bottle Mod Podge or clear glue For sealing the design
  • 1 each Paintbrush For applying glue
  • 1 each Pencil For tracing shapes
  • as needed each String or suction cups For hanging the suncatcher
  • 1 each Scissors For cutting materials

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Find a clean, flat surface to work on. Lay down some newspaper or a craft mat to protect the area.
  • Cut two pieces of wax paper into your desired shapes (stars, circles, etc.).
  • Tear or cut colored tissue paper into small pieces.

Assembly

  • Spread a thin layer of Mod Podge or clear glue on one piece of wax paper.
  • Arrange the tissue paper pieces on the glued wax paper, overlapping and creating patterns.
  • Once satisfied with your arrangement, cover it with another layer of Mod Podge or glue.
  • Place the second piece of wax paper on top, sealing the tissue paper between them. Smooth out any air bubbles.
  • Let it dry completely.

Finishing Touches

  • Once dried, cut out your suncatcher's final shape if not already done.
  • Use string or suction cups to display your suncatcher in a window or door to catch the sunlight.

Notes

Tips: Use clear contact paper for an easier alternative, sprinkle glitter for sparkle, and create themes for different holidays. These suncatchers are best for indoor use.
