Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 large large apple
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • optional Food coloring for coloring the lava

Tools

  • 1 Small bowl for mixing
  • 1 Knife for cutting the apple
  • 1 Spoon for scooping

Instructions

Preparation

  • Using a knife, carefully cut a small cone shape out of the top of the apple to create a 'volcano' opening.
  • Use a spoon to remove a little of the apple flesh, making it easier for the reaction to happen.

Mix the Ingredients

  • In a small bowl, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
  • If desired, mix in a few drops of food coloring for a colorful lava effect.
  • Set the bowl next to your apple volcano.

Erupt the Volcano

  • Slowly pour 1 tablespoon of vinegar into the apple.
  • Stand back and enjoy as the baking soda and vinegar react, creating a fun foaming eruption from the apple's top.

Enjoy the Aftermath

  • After the excitement has settled, cut up the remaining apple to enjoy as a snack.

Notes

Consider adding a dash of cinnamon or sugar for added flavor. You can also try using different fruits like pears or oranges. Decorate with edible items for extra fun!
