For the Snowman Base

  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Water

Additional Materials

  • 1 small bowl Small bowl (for mixing)
  • 1 piece Plastic wrap
  • 1 pack Pipe cleaners (white and assorted colors) White for the snowman, assorted for accessories.
  • 1 pack Googly eyes
  • 1 bottle Craft glue
  • 1 bottle Food coloring (optional) For colorful accents.
  • 1 plate A tray or plate (for display)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of water.
  • Mix until there are no dry clumps. The texture should feel like wet sand.

Shaping the Snowman

  • Use your hands to mold the baking soda mixture into three balls of different sizes (for the base, body, and head).
  • Feel the cool, slightly gritty texture.

Assembly

  • Stack the balls on top of each other while smoothing the edges for a seamless look.
  • Press gently to secure them in place.

Crystal Growth

  • Cover the entire snowman with plastic wrap to keep moisture in and promote crystal growth.
  • Place it in a warm, dry spot and wait for 24 to 48 hours.

Decoration

  • After the snowman has dried and crystals have formed, carefully remove the plastic wrap.
  • Use craft glue to attach googly eyes, pipe cleaners for scarves or arms, and any other decorations.

Notes

To customize your snowman, experiment with different colors of food coloring mixed into the baking soda solution. Swap out googly eyes for buttons or beads for a different look. Add a sprinkle of glitter for extra sparkle.
