Crafting Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda Essential for texture.
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar Combines with baking soda to create fizz.
  • 1/2 cup water Helps to mix the ingredients.
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup Can be substituted with sugar for a different texture.
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch Helps to thicken the mixture.
  • optional food coloring To customize the color of your snowman.
  • 1 LED tealight For the glow effect.
  • as needed decorative items (buttons, fabric, etc.) To decorate your snowman.

Instructions

Mix the Ingredients

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/3 cup of white vinegar.
  • Stir the mixture until combined, watching for fizz and bubbles.
  • Gradually add in 1/2 cup of water, followed by 1 tablespoon of corn syrup and 2 tablespoons of corn starch.
  • Mix until smooth and no lumps remain. Add food coloring for a personal touch if desired.

Shape the Snowman

  • Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Pinch off small amounts of the mixture and roll them into snowball shapes (large for the bottom, medium for the middle, and small for the head).
  • Stack the snowballs securely on top of one another.

Finish and Decorate

  • Use additional materials to decorate your snowman (buttons, strings, etc.).
  • Place an LED tealight inside (or underneath) the snowman to create a warm glow.

Notes

Customize colors with different food coloring. You can create smaller versions of the snowman for a whole snowman family. Store in a cool place to prolong it’s life. Supervise young children during crafting to avoid ingestion of materials.
