  • 1 cup Vinegar Any type of vinegar is fine, but white vinegar is most common.
  • Food coloring (your choice of colors) Variety of colors for a vibrant effect.

Preparation

  • In a clear cup or container, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with a few drops of food coloring. Stir gently until combined.
  • Using a spoon, gather some of the colored baking soda mixture and mold it into a tree shape directly in the container.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix 1 cup of vinegar with a few drops of food coloring.
  • Slowly pour the colored vinegar over your baking soda tree in the container.
  • Watch as the fizzing reaction occurs! Bubbles will rise and shimmer as the trees grow.
  • Allow the reaction to continue for a few minutes and enjoy your colorful creations!

Notes

Experiment with different ratios of baking soda to vinegar for varying reactions. You can also swap food coloring for glitter or essential oils.
