Ingredients
  

For the dough

  • 1 cup baking soda Main ingredient for the dough
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar Acidic ingredient that reacts with baking soda
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch Thickening agent for the dough

For decoration (optional)

  • Paint Acrylic or watercolor paint can be used for decoration

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Watch it fizz!
  • Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and add 1/4 cup of cornstarch. Stir over medium heat until it thickens.
  • Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool until manageable.

Shape the Ornaments

  • Place the cooled dough onto wax paper and roll it out to about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters to create your ornament shapes. Don’t forget to make a hole at the top for hanging!

Drying

  • Place the ornaments on a drying rack or leave them on wax paper. Allow them to dry completely, which could take several hours or overnight.
  • Once dry, paint or decorate your ornaments as desired.

Notes

Customize shapes using seasonal cookie cutter shapes like stars or trees. Swap cornstarch for flour for a different texture. Optionally add scents with essential oils. Experiment with food coloring or glitter for added flair.
