Creation Steps

  • Use pipe cleaners to form the shape of your snowman, stacking them to create a base and a head.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of water. Stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and observe the bubbling reaction.
  • If desired, mix in a few drops of food coloring into the baking soda solution.
  • Place the snowman on a tray or plate and slowly pour the solution over it, ensuring it's well-coated.
  • Allow the snowman to sit for several hours or overnight to allow crystals to grow.
  • Once the crystals have fully formed, carefully lift the snowman and place it in a container for display.

Notes

Customize size and shape using more or fewer pipe cleaners. Experiment with glitter or other decorations for personalization. This project is perfect for educational activities and crafting parties.
