  • 1 cup corn syrup Provides sweetness and support for growth
  • 2 cups water To achieve a smooth, thick consistency
  • green food coloring (optional) Makes pine trees visually appealing

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1/3 cup of white vinegar and watch the fizz.
  • Once the fizzing has settled, mix in 1 cup of corn syrup until fully combined.
  • If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring for a colorful touch.
  • Gradually add 2 cups of water to the mixture, stirring continuously until smooth.
  • Spoon the mixture into your small cup or pot, smoothing the top.
  • Place the filled cup on a flat surface away from direct sunlight and allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
  • Watch as crystalline formations resembling tiny pine trees start to grow over the next few days.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring and scents, or scale up the recipe to create more pines. A well-ventilated area helps expedite drying.
