Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine 2 cups of baking soda and 1 cup of cornstarch.
  • Gradually add 1½ cups of water while whisking to avoid lumps.

Cooking

  • Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium heat.
  • Stir continuously until thick and similar to dough (5-10 minutes).

Shaping

  • Once the mixture cools enough to handle, roll it out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Use cookie cutters to create snowflake shapes.

Drying

  • Leave the shapes to dry for 24-48 hours.
  • Alternatively, you can bake them at a low temperature (175°F) for about 2-3 hours until hard.
  • Check for a solid and crisp texture.

Finishing Touches

  • Once dry, sprinkle with glitter or paint with food coloring for added flair.
  • Allow to dry completely before display.

Notes

Mix fine glitter into the baking soda mixture for a sparkling effect. Adding a few drops of vanilla or peppermint extract will impart a delightful aroma to your ornaments. Feel free to use different cookie cutters or freehand designs for variety!
